Every month we'll explain what character traits each star sign possesses and how they relate to money management. This month, we'll look at Taurus. Let's go!
The Taurus star sign
Congratulations if you were born between April 21 and May 20. You are a Taurus. The dates are calculated using the sun's path, which is divided into 12 sections of 30 degrees each. Taurus corresponds to the second section, which is between Aries and Gemini. Taurus is a female sign that falls under the sign of Venus, a planet named after the Roman goddess of love, eroticism, and beauty. Taurus is also associated with the element earth, which is appropriate for a sign centred in spring when nature is in full bloom. Taurus is one of the oldest constellations, and from Europe in winter, its V-shaped lines resemble its namesake, a horned bull.
Taurus first appeared in the Babylonian zodiac, but its meaning changed when the ancient Greeks incorporated the signs into their own culture. In Greek mythology, Zeus, who had numerous affairs and children, fell in love with a king's daughter named Europa. To avoid his wife Hera's jealousy, Zeus transformed into a Bull and swam to the island of Crede, where he seduced Europa. Hera bore three of Zeus' children, who were later adopted by King Asterios of Crete.
Typical Taurus Traits
Taurus's, in stark contrast to Zeus' impulsive nature, are widely regarded as loyal and true, uninterested in passionate, fleeting affairs. In fact, they are described as possessive and prone to jealousy. However, a Taurus only exhibits these traits in extreme situations; instead, they are down-to-earth individuals who value patience, fidelity, and honour. It takes a lot to shake a bull; as a fixed zodiac sign, Taurus's are solid and stable. Unlike dreamy Pisces, they rarely get lost in the clouds.
Whether in love or at work, a Taurus' rational approach makes them a dependable and supportive partner. They are creatures of habit, which can irritate their loved ones, particularly visionary "doers" like Sagittarius or rebellious Aquarius. Furthermore, people associated with this sign are resistant to change: the phrase "stubborn as a bull" does not come out of thin air. However, there's much more to a Taurus than meets the eye!
